Hi guys

new to fusion 360 so i was wondering if anyone can offer some advise.

Im trying to build a model of a guitar neck and im having a problem with the patch tool and im getting the following error.

Modeling Error: Can't create patch toolbody, please check the inputs.

The area is a small triangle on either side of the heel transition on my guitar neck model

any ideas as to what my be causing the problem ?

Thanks for sharing the file, @jak3tayl0r .  This is a bug in Fusion - the preview and final commit use slightly different logic to determine if the path is "closed".  There is a workaround, though (a bit on the ugly side, but it does work):

  • create a Base Feature
  • do the Boundary Patch in the Base Feature
  • exit the Base Feature
  • Stitch the surfaces together

this is also the same problem reported in this thread: patch-problems

More than 3 years later I'm still getting this symptom.  The preview is fine but compute error on the patch.  Thanks for the workaround, it worked for my case.

After hours struggling with this issue, you saved me probably throwing myself off a bridge somewhere. Thank you!
