Show part number for components

Hi,

Is there a way to display the part number for a component in the browser on the right hand side of the modeling environment? Currently it only shows the name given to the component on creation.

Thanks

The properties for each component include Part Name and Part Number.

The browser displays Part Name. Currently you cannot force the browser display name to show Part Number. The only option is to enter the part number you wish to see in the field for Part Name in each component's properties.

Thanks,

Hi, any update on this issue?

Is it possible to see the part number in the browser?

Thanks,

The model browser displays the file name as part name.

Do you want to have designs saved with a name, but display a part number when inserted into an assembly? I'm interested in your workflow here because when I worked in industry every part had only a number. Part names were shown only in drawing title blocks or item descriptions in PLM.

So, my suggestion is to name the designs with the part numbers you are generating for the parts, or right click on them to read the properties.

The ideia would be to have both part name and part number presented in the browser (or at least select witch one you want to see), for an easy way to identify components. If you only have part numbers and a lot of components it becomes dificult to rapidly select/identify anything.

In the assemblies and drawings the part number is more important, but in the design interface not so much.

Thanks.

In this case, perhaps keeping the human readable names for design names would be best.

When you are using drawings, are you using the parts list options? (name/desc/part no)

In any case, you want to have an option to view part numbers in the browser tree, and also want to keep the names as human readable. Some sort of dual display option perhaps. I can log an improvement request for more flexibility in the browser display.

Yes, in drawings and for production purpose i use the part list option and it works, so we have a human readable name in design.

But when you need to organize and check part names it becomes to time consuming to check the propreties tab.

Thanks for the improvement request, it would be realy nice to see it implemented.

To be clear, you wish to display part number in the 3D model browser instead of part name, for each component?

Not instead of, as well as. Personally I'd like to be able to toggle an option that would show all part number after their part names in the tree. This means you don't have to open up the properties dialogue.

Thanks for the comments. It's all captured in the improvement request ticket I mentioned. (FUS-135548)
