Shell command not working as expected

Hi All

Im busy design a sort of funnel with a Yin and Yang shape at the top (long story) After trying a lot of different things to just the the geometry on top, and finally getting to a solution I was decently happy with (open for criticism on that as well) I decided it was time to shell it... This however did not work... and i have no idea why.

If anyone could please explain to me what Im missing or why its not working and how to work around it, I would be very grateful 🙂

File attached and here is a screen-grab of the yin and yang geometry on the top.YinYang Geometry.PNG

You are lofting into a singularity and that is almost never a good idea when the goal is top shall an object.

Can you please post a pic of what face(s) you would like to shell from? I'm not quite understanding the desired outcome.

As far as the basic geometry goes, unless you have a design functionality need that dictates the complexity, I would have made it something like this...very simple with one sketch and four features.

By the way, this Shells quite nicely from the bottom, if that is what you are after, at any reasonable thickness you might want.

Hi @MoshiurRashid Will do, sorry got confused as to where the best place is to put it

@TrippyLighting Hmmm, I thought that might be the main problem... I'm not too used to working with lofts and have to this point used them minimally. Good to know of a pitfall to look out for in future 🙂

@chrisplyler ....Dude WOW, how did you accomplish that with so few features? Could you please share the file with me? As you can see from my design, I don't really know what the best way to design this, and not, the design doesn't completely call for a perfect Yin Yang, as long as it looks close enough I'm happy. And yes sorry, the shell would be from the side opposite the yin yang

Here you go... added the Shell, can edit it and put in whatever thickness value you want. If you want to be efficient, you've got to design with laziness.

Oh wow, I never thought of using the taper function in my extrusion. Cheers! Look great and should work fine
