Sheet Metal designing 45 degree corner joins

Hi just after some advice on the best way to design 2 separate sheet metal components to be welded together.

In the file i have a large vertical flanged  side  and the smaller flanged top I want to bring together on the long edge to weld. So in the right view I am looking to say cut the flanges at a 45 angle so they can but together and be welded.

Is this possible to be modeled correctly so it is incorporated into the flat pattern?

I am having great trouble visualizing what you need.

The attached image is a bit if a fudge to try to figure out your Design Intent.

That is the finish I am trying to achieve if the top section is a separate body?

I have update my file and moved the top section over to the side panel where i would be welding it.

The flanges that are now on top of one another (on the Right side view) I cant find a solution on how to cut them on a 45 deg angle to achieve a push together fit.
