Setting the material type for parts in the drawing workspace

I'm trying out the drawing workspace for a project I'm working on. I pulled down a table to create the bill of materials and all of the components showed up as expected, but the material type was wrong.

All of the parts show as steel instead of pine and particle board.

In my modeling space where I created the components I've added the material appearance to each of the components:

Is there some other thing I need to do to note the material type for these components?

I'm running fusion version 2.0.5688 on mac os 10.14.4

Thanks!

@schmitz.chris - can you share your model here?  I'm not that familiar with the drawing environment, but a couple of possibilities exist that I can think of:

  • You used the Appearance command instead of the Physical Material command - this will only change the graphics
  • You used the correct command, but applied the Physical Material to the body, not to the component.  When you apply a physical material, if you just drag that material in the graphics area, it will apply to the body.  To make sure it is applied to the component, drag it to the component in the component browser (or change your filter to only allow component selection)

@jeff_strater is right... as long as the Physical Material is applied at the component level, they will show up in the parts list in drawings correctly.

Let us know if you have any other issues!

Thanks! Yeah I didn't realize that physical material and appearance were separate things. i applied the physical material and made a new drawing and now the materials show correctly.

Thanks!!
