Selecting added pattern items after a parametric change.

I am trying to come up with a design where i am using a paramater to select the number of bodies being created in a rectangular pattern. I then use those bodies to combine/cut holes in another target body. When I change the parameter i only get the original holes created because the newly created bodies are not part of the selected toolset. Is there some trick i can use to make the combine operation smart enough to base it off all the new extra bodies as well as the previous selected ones? I've tried using boundary selection tools but that seems to drop me out of the combine screen.

Thanks,

Peter

If you only Extrude|Cut one body, then pattern those cut faces, the pattern will be parametric.

Like @etfrench said you could pattern the faces. As an alternative you could pattern features. I've create an short screencast to demonstrate both variants. In this thread you can read about the pros and cons of each method.
