Selected a Design Version to open, it actually opened a DIFFERENT version

I selected to open Version 2 of my design but instead it opened version 23. I tried opening Version 1 and it instead opened Version 12. I thought that maybe it's got a problem when I already have another version open (although it should still work properly even in that case). But I closed all the open versions and JUST tried to open Version 2 again and, once again, it opened Version 23 instead.

Hey @RogerInHawaii ,

Will you please make a screencast and show us what do you do to open a different file version?

Cheers / Ben.

I don't have the screencast capability enabled on my system. All I did was move the mouse cursor over to the desired item in the Data panel, which caused the "Open" and "Promote" options to appear on the right of that item, and then clicked on the "Open" option. The version that it actually opened was NOT the one that I had selected to open.

@Beyondforce That does not at all address the issue.

It is perfectly valid to open up a prior version. There is no requirement that the older version first be "promoted" to the top of the set of versions. I am able to open numerous prior versions. The issue that I have encountered is that I select a version to open (version 2, for example) and it FAILS to open that version but INSTEAD opens some other version. Fusion definitely should not be doing that.

I decided to go back to that folder of versions just to see if I can reproduce the problem that I was seeing with my attempts to open an older version and having it actually open a DIFFERENT version.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND:

I have a main folder that holds all of my work on my Mercury Space Capsule. It's called "Mercury Space Capsule". Within that folder I have SUB-folders  that basically hold the work for some period of time. I might work on the design for a couple of weeks and then I create a new folder (under the Mercury Space Capsule folder), COPY the most recent version of the design from the older folder to the new folder, and then proceed working with that copy.  It lets me divide my work up into chunks

Anyway, my most recent work has been on the latest design that resides in:

FOLDER: Mercury Space Capsule
    FOLDER: Friendship 7 TRYING AGAIN
DESIGN: Friendship 7 Mercury Capsule  (created 11/10/19)

PRIOR to that I worked on:

a differently named design

and PRIOR to that I worked on:

FOLDER: Mercury Space Capsule
    FOLDER: Friendship 7 Jeff's Approach
DESIGN: Friendship 7 Original Parametric Modelling   (created 10/24/19 LAST EDITS 11/5/19)

Each time that start a new period of work I make a new folder (or at least a new design within the current folder) and COPY the latest version of the prior sequence of work to the new folder/new design.

The design that is the original topic of this Forum post was one that I was working and was one that spanned the days from (late in the day) 11/5 to (early in the day) 11/10.  But when I ,just now tried to go back to that one to see if I could reproduce the symptoms I was seeing,

IT'S GONE, POOF, DISAPPEARED, NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.

What could possibly have happened to it? I absolutely did not delete it.

I THINK that the missing one was a separate design within the Friendship 7 TRYING AGAIN folder. But now there's only one design in that folder, and it's the one that I created (via a copy/Paste) on 11/10/19. The existing (latest) one has 14 versions. The missing one had 33 versions as you can see from the screen capture that I originally posted in this thread.

Now, I DO NOTICE that the missing one had the name "Friendship 7 Mercury Capsule" (as shown on the screen capture) and the CURRENT ONE also has that same name. I'm usually very careful to give unique names to designs (e.g. using "F7" instead of "Friendship 7" or other distinguishing differences). But is it possible that I inadvertently used the exact same name for the newer design and that somehow caused the older one to just up and disappear?

As usual, I am totally baffled.
