rotating body to a surface

I am trying to rotate a body to make a surface sit horizontal so as to 3d print it. I cant find a way to rotate it to do this accurately. could anyone tell me a process to do this? many thanks

Without seeing your model, I'd recommend using the Align or the Joint commands.  If the joint origin doesn't already exist where you need it, then you can create one at the correct point.

this is the body it was split from another body along the curved line using plane along a path. an idiots guide to do this would be much appreciated I still have a lot to learn! many thanks

The part origin doesn't change when you use the Align tool, so it's easier to just measure the angle. One thing to note is the origin won't change in relation to the body if you rotate or move a component.  It will change if you rotate or move the body.  It's preferable to have bodies in components instead of at the top level of the Browser.  In the screencast I moved it to a component, then made a copy of the component to move.

So you can use align to put that surface flat on an origin plane, see screen cast.

but four your purposes, you may not need to.  Most slicers for 3d printing will have a command to place a flat surface on the build table.  That would be the easiest thing to do.  That way you don't have to mess with your model.

cheers many thanks I used the align function, unfortunately my slicer had no function to rotate to a surface so this was the only way.
