Rotating a body to align a feature to the origin

Hey All,

When I'm using the "move" function I have no problem rotating my part/body. But how do I snap one feature of my body to be parallel to one of the origin axes?

Thanks,

CE

The Forum needs your model.  Please attach it.

Take a look at the video to see the process.  I have attached your model aligned as you desire.  As the video shows, it is Grounded in place.

Edit: I had to replace the model as I did not notice you had to have the component rotate around the Z axis.  The video method is the same, I just need to place my initial sketch on the X-Y plane.

John,

Thank you so much. That was a problem that had perplexed me for quite some time!

Best,

Hey John,

How do you align the two origins after what you did above? (the root origin and the component origin)

When I activate the GA Tumbler component and go to sketch everything is at the angle of the root origin.

I have such a hard time with getting things lined up in Fusion!!!

Thanks,

You never mentioned you wanted both the assembly origin and the component origin to line up to the notch, I only did the assembly origin in the first supplied model.  Since your component origin is not originally lined up to the notch, it has to be realigned first.  The I use the exact same process I used in my first video.  I started from scratch and did the complete process in the attached video.  Model is attached.

Hey John,

I must have done the first half of that 10 times last night and it kept jumping off the center point just like yours did. I was missing the second part of the second Align operation! So simple, and yet I couldn't get there!

Thank you again.

Best, CE
