Reviving The Wii Nunchuck! Modeling Help Please!! (RC Remote)

I am a skilled 123d user, it is a great program but it has its limits. That is why I switched to Fusion 360. I am working on a custom enclosure for an RC remote that I want to look, and work like a Wii Nunchuck. I have modeled the form to the best of my ability, but do now know to round (or pinch) the back side and make it perfect. If you guys can tell me how to or edit the file it would be greatly appreciated!

What it should look like

I cannot seem to round out the botom side and make it skinnier towards the bottom.

I will attach my .f3d file for you to take a look

Thanks for your tips / help!!

Hi @jared.ebersole77,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community! Thanks for posting.

Are you familiar with the "Edit Form" tool in the Sculpt workspace? I would start honing in your model of the Wii remote by using it. I've attached a screencast illustrating the beginning of the process in this post. This could help to get you started.

I would also take a look at this video, which gives a brief overview of the tools available in the Fusion 360 Sculpt workspace. This video also gives some great tips, and this webinar dives deeper into the Sculpt workspace.

Hopefully this helps you to move forward with your model! Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns - I'm happy to help!

Thanks,

Thanks! I was working further, I have made 2 parts (separate meshes) in the same component. How to I join them so that when I export as an STL to 3d print they are one object?

Thanks again!

Hi @jared.ebersole77,

To join two separate mesh bodies for 3D printing as a single object, you must;

  1. Enter Direct Modeling Mode.
  2. Convert each mesh body to a Brep body
  3. Use the "Combine" command to combine the two Brep bodies to a single body.

I have illustrated this in the screencast attached below:

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

I know this is almost 10 years old but can anyone tell me how to get into the sculpting workspace with this file specifically in the latest version of fusion? I can’t seem to find that answer anywhere. I'm a noob

The included video will show that when you open the only Fusion File in this post, in the first entry, you will be in the Form Environment.  It seems to have been exported in this state.  The video will show how to leave the Form Environment and return to it.
