It's a bit hard to tell just from the picture.  However, my suspicion is that the sketch that this text is placed on has its normal facing in the wrong direction for your intentions.  Right now in Fusion there is no way to reverse the normal of a sketch.  Are you planning to cut or join the text into your model?  If so, then the easiest way to correct this is to create your text not as a cut or join, but as a separate body, then use Move to rotate the body into the right orientation, then use Combine to do the Join or Cut with your model.

Interestingly enough, I think that this is the first time I have seen anyone that needed to have a sketch or workplane's normal reversed!  Usually, the normal of a sketch doesn't matter at all.

If the text is just decorative, I would be tempted to use Decal instead of sketch text.  So, just write your text into some image file (.PNG, etc), and use Decal.

The last way to do this, and it's admittedly a bit kludgy, is to put the text into a separate component.  So, create an empty component, activate it, create a sketch in that component, add your text, close the sketch, then rotate the component.  It works, but is not pretty...

Thanks for the post

Could you draw a Box as a separate body, draw the text on one of the faces then hide the box.

Ah, welcome to my world!  Many of the clients I work with really want to use text, but I have not even suggested Fusion to them because of the not-so-good text support.  I brought this reversed text issue up in January:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-and-documentation/text-is-reversed/m-p/5477237/highlight/true#M...

...and said that it is trivially easy to encounter this problem.  All Fusion would need to do is put in a "flip text" checkbox, and the problem would be solved.  This problem is made more evident, because if you are working on the "reversed" side of the text, you cant even select it to explode the words into sketch curves....you have to rotate around to do that!

...and done get me started on how you can't select the sketch curves all at once if you are zoomed out!  (or do get me started, because it is something "text" creators will need to provide for in their workflow...though this issue does have a workaround LINK)

Hi,

This issue is now logged with development but it would be a good idea also to log the issue in our Fusion 360 Ideastation.

Once logged in the Ideastation other users can vote for the enhancement.

Cheers

Jon.

Hi Jon,

Can you help me understand why this would go in the Ideastation? Do you believe this would be an enhancement to the product to have, and not that this is (at best) a really hard workflow issue or (a worst) a bug?

Just yesterday I was at a client site helping them start to incorporate Fusion and (of course) they wanted to play around with text and logos. We ran into this "feature" and were unable to proceed quickly (and Fusion did not look so polished to them as it otherwise would have).

If you look in the link I copied above, it seems as of Fusion <wanted> to give this functionality by implementing some sort of "drag the box inside of itself" function....but it does not seem to work. Would not that qualify as a bug to at least get that specific method of flipping text fixed?

Hi,

The reason why we asked the customer to log the issue in the IdeaStation, is so we can see how many users vote for the feature.

This allows us to prioritise the enhancements.

The customer Markclayto use the workaround that Jeff suggested.

Jon.

Hello,

Being still quite new here myself I'm not sure if this has been dealt with or if the suggested " text issue " was added to the ideastation i think it was called. So the question would be, Am i able to vote on this issue, is it still an issue in the pipeline somewhere.

I recently come across the need for either print text or preferably extruded text so as to look like they are solid letters on the external side of a building.

I'm working on bringing certain objects from a series into the real world as physical objects as much as that is possible. Thanks for access to such amazing and thoroughly supported program.

I have this reversed text issue often. I like to put text on top and bottom of a solid, and the bottom text is always reversed.

I actually think this is a bug because the move command lets me rotate it 180 degrees horizontally, but it does not work vertically to flip the letters.
