Rendering texture image bump map relief not displaying

Hi folks,

I've added a texture to a material (Appearance > Edit > Relief Pattern (Bump) > Image. The texture shows up just fine in the preview, but when I render it the texture does not appear. It's just the exact same smooth texture as if I had the texture feature disabled.

See video attached.

Can you tell me what I'm missing?

I've attached the texture file.

I posted this in the "design" forum because I assume it's user error.

Thanks,

Ted

Hi,

Not 100% sure why it doesn't work but you have made a quite small box and applied the texture to it. Good so far,

but the texture editor seems to suggest that the texture is 22" x 22" square. That is pretty big. Are you sure that it

isn't applying the texture on such a small box that the texture is there but just a really small part of the bmp? The

tiny section of image might just be uniform in texture at that part being used by the software.

Hi,

At the risk it might be a bug. What happens if you apply the texture to the body first in Design and then change to

the Render Panel?

Hi Andrew, I don't believe that where I apply the appearance matters. As you can see in the video, the appearance has been properly applied since the texture is showing on the preview in both the Design and Render panel. Would you by chance be able to check the texture.png file that I posted with the original post and see if you can get it to work? Thanks

Hi,

Seems to be working for me.

I am not running anything special in particular.

Hi Drew,

Did you apply this as a decal or relief pattern bump map? Can you send your settings? I'm hoping to apply as a relief pattern bump map so I can maintain the translucency characteristic of my material.

I'm running:

Fusion 2.0.20476 arm64 [Native]
macOS 15.0.1 (24A348) on MacBookPro18,2

Thanks,

Ted

Hi,

I applied it as an appearance the same way as you would apply a material.

No custom settings and whatever the current version is on a PC.

Cheers

Thanks, Andrew.

By "same was you would apply a material" do you mean?

Appearance Panel > Edit Material > Advanced > Relief Pattern (Bump) > Image

See below for the settings panel I'm referencing.

If you can take a quick screenshot of your settings, that would be appreciated.

That will tell me if I'm missing something or if there's a bug.

Hi,

The PC version is a little different to the Mac version.

Can't work out where the texture editor is as I don't do this type of stuff often enough. I only set an appearance

not a Physical Material.

Cheers

do you get the same results with in canvas render?

here's your pic applied to a body, with some adjustments, so the pic itself seems to work.

you should probably attach your model with your textured appearance in it.

@Drewpan was correct.

It was an issue with the sizing of the texture.

The texture appears very visible in the canvas-preview, but when rendered it's more subtle.

Once I increased the size of the texture I was able to see it appears in both the canvas-preview and the final render.

Thanks
