Unable to split circle with geometry

In the attached file (see screenshot below), I'd like to make a line out of line A and arcs B and C, which requires me to delete arc D from the circle.  Ordinarily, I could just select D and hit delete, with A and C creating the separation points.  In the sketch, however, clicking on D or B selects the entire circle.  What am I doing wrong?

Use Sketch > Modify > Trim, (scissors) select D

Hi,

Another way to do this is to leave the circle geometry where it is and change it to a construction line. Then create the

arcs you need with the Centre Point Arc sketch tool. This is cleaner than deleting stuff and others can see where you

got the arcs from when following your design. If you delete geometry it is harder to tell.

Hi,

Is that what you want to achieve?

Thanks, but why doesn’t the circle segment automatically as usual? That would cut it exactly where I want it, whereas Trim cuts where you place the tool; I could get it close, but not exact.

Huh? - with Trim Tool active, mouse hover over the portion to remove, will highlight red, left click - gone.

Or you can hold left mouse button down, and swipe across articles, they all get trimmed back to next connection point.

Trim Tool will only cut items in the current edit sketch.

In Gunther’s video, he uses Break Tool, to segment the circle exactly where the Trim would remove.

As for the finished outline - Leave it as a circle, no need to Trim or Break, and select inside region.

Hi,

Even though I used the break tool in my screencast, like @davebYYPCU  I would not use it.

Yes, thanks. Why wasn’t it working as I’d drawn it?
