Hello all!

This is easier to show in a screencast, so I attached it.

Since the update, you can't rename a file (using the Data Panel) to include a slash "/".

You can "save as" or just "save" a file with a slash though.

Unless the file name had a "/" before the update! Then, it is fine. You can use "rename" and the new name can have a slash.

Hi Autumn.S,

you tried to rename NON CAD file. Unfortunately the name displayed in Data Panel is the file name in this case and "/" slash is an invalid character for file names.

Regards

What do you mean, a non CAD file? This is a file I created and saved in Fusion.

After the update, it moved to my main project folder for some reason, so I moved it back and tried (and failed) to rename it.

Now that I'm trying to open it though, it says "A360 failed to download the file" so I'm going to do some troubleshooting tomorrow. There were several files that were moved to my main project folder after the update. I just moved them back. But now it seems none of them open. Smiley Sad

Thanks!

Hi Autumn,

That does look odd.  I don't see a problem renaming with a "/" (new or old).  Would you be able to share a link to your file?  If you don't want to post a link here, can you send it to me at [email protected]?

Also, did you create/edit any of these files in Offline mode (while you had the previous version of Fusion 360) and then update Fusion 360 to the latest version?

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal.

Hi Autumn.S,

in your video, you tried to rename file, which isn't possible to Open in Fusion (context menu doesn't have option Open). This context menu we basically use for pictures, PDFs, XLSs, DOCs or for any other not supported extensions for Fusion. From this perspective all of these files aren't CAD / Fusion design files.

I verified the Rename functionality for Fusion Design documents. It works well even if slash "/"is used.

If your file was before the May 7th update regullar Fusion document then it's a different issue. We are sorry that you have this problem. In this case, could you send me your diagnostic log files, please ?

Would be also great for our future investigation, if you could share with us your Project with the affected file(s). My email address is: roman dot vesely at autodesk dot com

Best regards

 Roman

Hi @Roman_Vesely and @sanjay_jayabal

I attached my diagnostic logs here.

I think I figured out what happened, but it's a little strange so stick with me.Smiley Tongue

I didn't use Fusion during the update, but it seems there were a number of files that had failed upload before the update (this happens a lot on my computer, not sure why). So when it updated, Fusion uploaded them to my main project file. I moved them to the folders they were supposed to be in.

Most of these "freshly uploaded, moved" files don't open at all (mainly the 2D drawings, the f3d models are fine). Looking at the exisisting versions, I did lose some work, but not much - at most an hour or two. So even if I never get them to open it won't bother me. We've moved on from these files.

My boss would be the one to invite to the project, so I'll run it by him. If you guys have access, it seems I still have Ahsan Ali shared into the project right now.

Thanks!

Hi Autumn.S,

thank you for the diagnostic file, it will Analyzed by your DEV team.

You mentioned that ypu have a problem mainy with Drawings. In the meantime... could you try this workaround, please ?

- open Design documents used for createing of related drawings (which you aren't able to open)

- do some cosmetic changes like hide/show component and save them, so you will create a new version

- try to open afected drawing documents after that

Pleas let me know if it works for you.

Regards

 Roman

hi @Roman_Vesely

I tried what you said but the newly upoaded drawings documents still don't open. At this point, I am just discarding them. Smiley Indifferent I've already brought the older files back up to date.

I think what caused all of this is that files for upload tend to fail a lot on my computer. So, it had those files "waiting" to upload. Then the update happened, and it uploaded them funny or something.

My internet conection it is a bit spotty in my area, so it isn't anything on your end. I just wait for them to try again and upload. This time, something went wrong, and that's all, I guess.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

Thanks for providing us the log files. We're going through them and will report back our findings soon. And yes, it looks like you still have your project shared with me. That'll come handy. Thanks.

Hi @ahsan.autodesk

Thanks!

Another thing I noticed - I can't "move" files with "/" in them - even if I can open/rename them.

I have to rename them, remove the "/", move the file, rename them to add the "/" again.

I think I just have to not use the "/"! Not sure how I got in the habit to start with. Smiley LOL

Hi there,

Are your problems resolved now? Are you able to open your drawings successfully. If not, can you please let us know?

Also, are you still having problems with the "/" in the rename?

Thx

I still can't move files with "/"

But I deleted the buggy files, I wasn't able to get them to work either.

Any new files open fine, even if they are uploaded from offline mode. But both old and new files with "/" can't be moved.

Thanks!
