Removing Parts and Dimensions Over Constrained

I have succeeded in entering dimensions on the right and lower side of my sketch. But when I try on the left side it comes with a complaint that it is over constrained. I just want to be able to insert the dimension and thus move the line to the corresponding dimension. How can I do that if I get the over constrained warning?

I am trying to remove a part of the sketch, the part below the radiused curves. I cannot break the line. Now I have tried to enter a vertical dimension below and get again the over constrained warning. Please let me know how to remove the indent within the radiused curves and get enter and get the right dimensions without an over constrained warning. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. When I click on Sketch 4 I do not see the two horizontal bars to the left of the circles.

I have changed sketch and put the cursor on a horizontal set of bars in a circle, clicked on the left mouse button and then Delete. Most circles disappeared. I have reinstated them.

How can I put everything in one sketch so that I can get full control of my sketch? Thank you.

1. You must right click on Sketch4 and select Edit Sketch to get access to those "horizontal bars" to the left of the circles.

2. Based on my 25+ years of teaching CAD - that is not a good plan.  You are having trouble with simple sketches - making them more complex does not sound like a good plan to me.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have right clicked on Sketch 4 and selected Edit. No horizontal bars appeared. When I left click on a bar in the circle and click delete then most but not all of the little circles disappear. Unfortunately many other circles also disappear. If I could only delete the little circles I would do so and then recreate them, then set the dimension of the one to the right and constrain the rest. Is ther any way I can do that?

You are right about many sketches. Unfortunately I lose control of the design. I feel that I would have more control of it if I had everything in one sketch and were able to modify anything I desire. I have recently created some new elements in my design. These have come in a newly created Sketch 5. When I click on Sketch 4 they disappear. When I click on Z and go back they appear. As I feel that I have done a good job of them I would like them to remain. Is there any way I can do so? Thanks.

3. This is quite troubling.  I recommend that you create a Screencast Recording of these steps.

4. I recommend that you stop - do not do anything further to dig a deeper hole to climb out of.

I recommend that you refer to my posted Screencast and start over and we can go through this step-by-step, otherwise I can move on to other discussion threads where my recommendations are followed step-by-step.
