Recovery file not saved after crash

I just had a crash after several hours of work.  I was an idiot and didn't save during that time, I normally err on the side of saving ALL the time. Anyway, when I relaunched Fusion I was very bummed to find there was no recovery file.  A file I don't care about seems to be stuck in the recovery directory (I get told every time Fusion launches that I have this silly file there).  What determines if a recovery file is saved or not, just luck of the draw?  Is there a way to remove files I care about from the recovery area?

Hi @tomae,

Thank you for posting and I am sorry to hear that you lost a file. Fusion usually tries to create a recovery file at the specified interval in the Preference menu. (The default is 5 min) However, it fails if you are using a command when it tries to create a recovery file.

Have you tried the Recover Documents command in the File menu? If you see important file here, try clicking "open" and then save a new version. After saving a new version, the file will not show up in the recovery file option again.

I also noticed that F360 sometimes forgets about autosave function. I.e. I was editing materials and appearings in Render mode and after about half an hour F360 was crashed. Upon restarting either there was no revery file or it was from ages ago (even before entering in Render mode, because there was not a single appearing applied). It happened to me 2-3 times at least.

Secondly, because of instability of the application I would like to set autosave interval to shorter value - 1 minute. But F360 prohibits it. Why?
