really long hang up with CPU spikes on simple operations

Hey team,

I have had a really slow day on fusion360.  on simples operations such as push.pull, move, save, extrude, chamfer, I have been getting really long hangups, with CPU load spiking from 10% up to 50~80% and hanging for minuntes at a time.

As a results productivity has gone south, with some simple client driving updates to the design that should have taken an hour, have now taken 8 hours, and still no completed.

I have sent 5 crash reports today, and have attached a log file.

Help please - is it me, my ISP, my hardware, my models, or the software?

Running iMac late 2011, 16gb Ram.

guidance please!

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike,

Sorry for your problems...

If you could respond to me, either in a private message here, or at jeff.strater@autodesk.com with the email address you used to file the CERs, we can take a look at those and see if we can learn anything from your crashes.  Thanks for sending the log files!

Never mind, I was able to look through the CER database and find yours.  We are looking at them.

Were all the crashes that you experienced occurring on the same model, or were you using a variety of designs?  If it is primarily one design, would you be willing to share it with me (either export it, or invite me to your project)?

Thanks,

Jeff

Ok - you are now part of the inner circle of my project!

I do really like fusion360, and I am happy to send the logs and crash files as long as it is useful for your development team.

cheers

I apologize for the long delay, Mike.

We learned quite a few things from your data and log files.

First, we looked at the CERs, and found at least two that we now have fixes for.  Those will be released in an update tonight (I had to push a bit for those!).  So, hopefully, you will not crash as often after this update.

Second, we looked at your log files.  It seemed, from the log files, that we had some trouble uploading your files - they were taking a long time to upload, and there were quite a few in the queue.  For our own information, can you run www.speedtest.net and report back the results?  It seemed from the log as if you might have a slow connection, and this can affect upload time, and can also cause the queue to get a little backed up.

Hopefully you've been able to continue to work successfully, and thanks for sharing your data

Jeff

Hi Jeff.  Im glad the error states have helped to contribute to Fusion360 updates.  I have just gotten the update now, so I will see what happens.

(I suspect you might have learnt from my model and logs that my modelling still needs some practice!)

I have run speed test, and it has confirmed what we have suspect for a while now:  between 5~10 Mbps download, and 0.6Mbps upload!  Much slower than we expect on our plan.

Also, I have noted that when the Mac timecapsule runs it's autobackup over wifi, it seems to hog a lot of bandwidth.

additionally, and im not sure it is noteworthy, we us the unblock-us service to enable access to overseas streaming Pay TV services (ie netflix).  I am not sure if that effects the upload / download rate.

Anyhow, still working.

cheers

Mike
