Hi @Anonymous -

The Generate button you were used to seeing in the Model workspace is obsolete as of the October 15th update and Generative Design is an actual workspace in Fusion 360. You should be able to find it there.

Hi @TrippyLighting -

As of the October 15th update, we have made Generative Design available for trial users and have increased the number of available trial credits to 300. The 30 day duration remains the same.

Thanks,

Mike Smell - Product Manager - Fusion 360 | Generative Design and Simulation

Yes, the Generative Design workspace is now available in Fusion 360 for both Windows and Mac for commercial and trial users. https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/october-15-2018-product-update-whats-new/

If you are not seeing the workspace, then likely you are either not a commercial subscriber, or are on a trial license that was created before October 15th. Generative Design is not currently available for startup and education license types.

Please confirm your license type by posting a screen shot of the Fusion 360 Help>About Box.

Thanks,

Mike Smell

@Anonymous Have you enabled the workspace in preferences? Click your name top right of screen, open preferences and select Preview then enable the workspace.

Mark

Edit. The info above might be wrong, although I've not enabled the workspace in my preferences it still shows on the workspace dropdown top left of screen.

As long as you stated your trial after October there's only one version.

See info here.

If you are still not seeing the workspace, I am guessing your are either on a startup license or and EDU license, as a trial started before October 15th would have expired.

To answer your last question, yes, purchasing a subscription to Fusion 360 will give you access to Generative Design. I will also point out that while you will have access to Generative Design, the generating and downloading of outcomes cost cloud credits, so you will need to purchase cloud credits, as well. To learn more about the costs of Generative Design, please read the following. http://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-EB3D2326-6BBC-404E-91BF-AF6601E15606
