"Component out of date" Error

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have an assembly with multiple components. Currently I'm getting the following error:

"Warning: 1 Component is out of date.
Update the Direct reference from the browser.
To update the Indirect reference, open it separately and update."

Each component is up to date in their own drawing and when I try to use the "Get latest" option I get the following error:
"Error: The referenced file being opened is the same as the one currently open."

Any help is appreciated.

Are you getting this message in the CAM environment? I have this same issue. I posted about it, and I heard someone was supposed to contat me, but I must have missed the communication.

As far as I know, there isn't a fix for it yet.

No I'm getting the error in the "Model" environment.

I also saw this in one of my models in the last couple of days. It's a mystery to me.

I'm having some other more serious issues, with a model file completely disappearing.

Have you inserted any designs then used remove, if you have they are still in the design. Look back through your time line for the remove features and right click them and suppress, now you can use get latest.

But, to be honest, this should be logged as a bug!

I agree! I had the same problem, and it is really confusing!

Add my vote for "this is confusing, please fix it"

Warning: 2 Components are out of date.
Update references from the browser using the Get Latest command.

Can't even find "Get Latest" in any right-click menu, or offshoot of a menu. If the function has changed name, change the reference name in the error message!

I hate when I get a thousand dollar software package for free and it has an error.  um, I mean.. never mind, I can deal!  😜

You left-click on the component in the browser with the yellow sign to select it, then you right-lick and select "get latest".

It's still there, I've used it several time today.

This is happening to me with a brand new design that has an imported component.  Get latest does nothing.

This seemed to be my problem too, but I couldn't find the timeline remove feature or even the yellow sign next to a component (only got the general warning). This worked for me: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Una...

I just ran into this problem myself, and finally fixed it by editing each of the problem components and re-saving them. I made no actual changes; just turned the body off and back on again to trick the software into thinking a change had been made. Then went back to the original design, right-clicked on each of the highlighted "out of date" components, and selected 'get latest' from the menu. That cleared the fault.

It worked just fine last night, but this morning, on a different computer, opening the model resulted in the error. Might be something related to software updates that took place?
