Projected Fit point 3d spline unexpected behaviour

So I draw a fit point 3d spline, and project it on a plane.

When I hover over the projected spline with the 'line' command selected the cursor snaps along the projected element normally. Works fine. As expected.

But if the start or end of the fit point spline has its handle set perpendicular to the projection plane the projected spline becomes sort of useless, cursor doesn't snap to it, and can't perform most of the basic operations, like offsetting the projected spline or using it as boundary for a profile.

Am I missing something?, Is this an expected behavior?

thanks.

yes, this is expected as of today.  Think about what you are asking the system to do.  The projection of a spline is another kind of spline, but if any part of it is perpendicular to the sketch plane, that causes a compression of the geometry, which does make the resulting spline very complex, and in some areas, degenerate.  I suppose this should actually be an error case, but today we don't check for it.
