How to find a sketch?

Anonymous

I started this project months ago. As I got better with Fusion 360 my projects became more organized. This project complex and one of my earlier ones is a bit messy. I have doors. To located the holes on the face of the doors and frame I must have created a single sketch on that "Plane" I can click on the holes and edit the hole, but I am using a slightly different hinge and need to move and delete holes. I can't find the sketch I used to create those holes. Any suggestion as to how I can locate that sketch? I assume they are burried in a different unrelated component but I can't find them.

Thanks

Brad

Hi,

Go to your browser open the components and see where the sketches are. Then open the sketches folder and select the corresponding sketch with right click > Edit.

Thanks for the response, This project has a high number of components, I assume I had the wrong component highlighted. So I expect the sketch is in a not logical place.  Thanks In the mean time I think I found some. Was wondering if there was a direct route from the feature. Thanks! Brad

Hi,

Have you tried to search the sketch starting from the display by right-clicking and "Search in Browser / Search in Timeline)?

If you edit one of the holes the sketch will become visible, if you the click one of the points to unselect then reselect the same point the path to the sketch will highlight in the browser.

Yes there is.

Select the face of the hole, the feature in the timeline will highlight, the body or component also highlights in the browser.

On the timeline icon, Right Click Menu has an Edit Sketch for that feature.

When you find the sketch, you can unhide the sketch plane or body face that owns it.

Might help...

@davebYYPCU  That only works if you sketched the circle? For the hole tool there's no edit sketch.

Seems to me the sketch should be in the parents list if you left click and hold on a face. @jeff_strater  Surely there should be an easy way to access the sketch used by the hole tool?

Interesting idea, @HughesTooling - though a sketch is not really a parent in the sense that, say, a feature or a body is, it would be interesting to include the sketch in that list...

Or, maybe, a sketch-based hole should have an Edit Sketch option, the way that Extrude does.
