Project Intersection No Result

Been working on this model and have been using the Project->Intersection to create sketch objects from the body of this component. It was all working just fine but now when I try to project onto a plane that is 1/2" in front of the body i am not getting any results and no errors or warnings. 

I have the offset construction plane selected, then hit "new sketch", then Project->Intersection, then I select the only body within the component and hit ok. As you can see in my model i was able to do this on a plane flush with the parts outer face that I'm trying to project.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok but look at this other version where its working and i offset one of the planes .25" in front of the body (relative to the origin if that matters). In this example the plane i'm sketching on is not intersecting the body i'm using to do the projection. Whats the difference?

Here there is both a “normal” projection and a intersection plane

If doing what I did in the example file, your work must happen before the Move Tool was used to move the Larger body.

Thanks davebYYPCU...i see now...you used the other half (body) for the intersection projection...it was hidden in my file but i see now. To answer my own question....you need a body to intersect with to actually do an intersection projection!

Not strictly correct.  You do need articles that penetrate the sketch plane, in your case it is a body.
Other sketch articles and or Construction articles come to mind.

Hi! I am wondering if Ruled Surface could be useful in this case. You could control how the Ruled Surface progress without the need to create a sketch. You may trim off the unwanted portion. Solidify the surface body by using Thicken command.
