Progress window everytime Fusion 360 starts

Since the update yesterday, every time I launch Fusion 360, a small progress window opens and just sits there, never showing any progress. If I click close, it goes away and everything seems to work fine, just wondering what that's supposed to be doing.

@mcramblet

I have this too and would like to know.

@PhilProcarioJr @mcramblet Could you post a copy of the diagnostic log files? If the command isn't available, could you manually collect them and post them here?

I suspect it may have something to do with the Simulation environment, but that's a random guess. If you go into Simulation Environment, then create some sort of study, is there any behavior to report?

Hopefully this isn't impacting your ability to use Fusion 360, Thank you for posting!

@innovatenate

Here is my log file. If I go into simulation everything looks/acts normal.

I created a simple file, configured, ran and completed a simulation. After the simulation completed, I exited Fusion 360 and then restarted. The window popped up, just like before. My log file is attached.

Thank you for posting that. The app log file looks okay, nothing weird there...

Could you also post the installation log file?

C:/Users/%PROFILE%/AppData/Local/Autodesk/autodesk.webdeploy.streamer.log

Thank you in advance!

Thanks, for the log files. I didn't find anything suspicious in the install or the app log files.

Let me consult with the development and get back to you. I'm completely stumped at the moment.

Thanks @PhilProcarioJr & @mcramblet for the log files. I didn't find anything out of sorts in any of the log files I reviewed. I also didn't see any pending upload in the upload queue.

I've reached out internally to see if someone may be more familiar with the progress dialog. I just haven't seen it before! Nothing has turned up so far.

I have a couple of hypotheses:

1. The issue is related to the outages we were experiencing earlier and will resolve itself on its own

2. If you delete all of the recovery documents, does the progress bar go away the next time you start up Fusion?

I will circle back as soon as I learn anything. Let me know if any one of these guesses seems correct. The worst case scenario may be to do a clean uninstall and re-install to see if the issue will resolve then.

Thanks,

The progress box is still showing up for me, when Fusion 360 launches. I couldn't try the suggestion of deleting the recovery documents, as I don't have any to delete:

I don't have any either and this progress box opens on start on all 4 of my computers.

I wanted to let you know that I did log this with development (FUS-28858), but there are no new developments on that front. Also thanks for the update on the Recovery Documents.

@PhilProcarioJr That is a great hint about it occurring on multiple computers.

I'm wondering if it is related to loading the global options or preferences that you have set. I recall sometimes seeing a green progress bar appear in the bottom right area of the canvas when the UI is initializing/busy. I wonder if its that progress bar showing up. Do you ever see this progress bar?

... It could have changed in the latest release.

I believe the global preferences are synced locally to XML files stored in the Options directory.

C:/Users/***/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Neutron Platform/Options/***%Audoesk ID specific%***

Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Neutron Platform > Options > ***%Audoesk ID specific%***

If you close Fusion 360 and delete this directory, it will recreate it from the cloud upon launch. There is some risk that you will lose toolbar customizations and preferences; however, it may be worth a try to see if it would get rid of the progress bar.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks,

I deleted all the .xml files in that folder and restarted Fusion same thing.

I just did a complete uninstall including leftover folders, and reinstall and the box still pops up on startup.

Hi Phil, could you do the follwing:

Get Process Explorer from here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx

Extract the files to a folder and run the .exe.

Locate Fusion360.exe in the list, right click, Create Dump -> Create Minidump.

Choose a location for the minidump, then zip and attach the file.

I will look at this and try to determine why the dialog is appearing.

Make sure you choose the Create Minidump option, not the Full Dump option, that would be too large.

Thanks!

Still looking at the dumps, but I wanted to make sure - you are both generating the dump when the Progress window is still showing?

Oops, I didn't create mine when the window was still up. Attached is a new one that was created when the window was still visible.
