Hello,

The mesh is not fully closed so Fusion 360 creates a surface instead of a solid body.

Use Meshmixer to repair the mesh. Go to the menu Analysis > Inspector and click on Auto Repair All.

Export the repaired mesh and now Fusion 360 will convert it to a solid body.

See attached file below.

Hi

Thanks for that.

I better download meshmixer and learn how to use it.

I appreciate the direction.

For geometry that simple I would remodel from scratch rather than use coarsely faceted planar triangles in any of my designs.

Hi

I agree and I am more than capable of it now.

The file is for a chap who has a set of stls that are simular to what I have already created. He wants to mix these stls with stls of parts that I have already done.

I didn't want to have to redo all my work.

But I agree. I am now in the mind set that I would rather create things from scratch if I can now.

Regards

I didn't search for the opening - but if found, you could probably easily use a Patch and then Stitch in Fusion rather than bothering to go to MeshMixer for this simple part.
