Print Studio doesn’t start? Delete these folders

Here’s what I did when Print Studio decided to crash on start:

Uninstalled Print Studio completely,
Deleted the data from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Print Studio, and also from C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk
Made sure there was no Print Manager service left in Windows Task Manager > Services tab > Services button. I right-clicked Stop it,
Re-installed Print Studio.

When I had Print Studio connected to a print manager on another computer and could not access it, I asked an Admin to delete the registry key on Windows (or plist file on Mac). Don’t try it if you’re not an expert.

Registry key on windows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Spark or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Autodesk\Spark

Plist file on mac:

$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.autodesk.Spark.plist or /Library/Preferences/com.autodesk.Spark.plist

I hope this helps.

I'm having this issue and got an error message referencing this forum post.  Sadly, these files don't exist on my system:

$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.autodesk.Spark.plist or /Library/Preferences/com.autodesk.Spark.plist

So I can't resolve by deleting them.  Is there another course of action?

Thanks

Hi, assuming you are using a Mac, I would delete com.autodesk.spark.printstudio.

You can find it in application support under users > administrators > library > application support.

This will wipe out the Print Studio profiles and custom settings, so save them somewhere else if needed.

I hope this helps.

I am having problems with this too.  When I start print studio, I get the error "cannot connect to print manager" and that "print manager files may be corrupt".  I am at a loss.  What do I do?  I have uninstalled all of the print studio  and print manager files then reinstalled them.  This did not help.

@Anonymous Have you had any resolution for this issue?

I am facing the same problem and I am not sure what does it mean. Although I want this app running ASAP.

PS: it is the same issue for Inventor Environment > 3D Print. Any Idea

I had this problem on a Mac. Some malware software I used prevented this file from being written:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.autodesk.printmanager.plist

It is a configuration file that allows PrintManager to run a little web server that I assume allows your printer to connect to it. Once I overrode the malware software and let it write that file, Print Manager started running fine.

None of this is working for me.

I have completely uninstalled, deleted the folders and registry entries and then reinstalled with a fresh download.  Every attempt eventually leads to a print server error.  The PrintManager service always ends up in a paused state.

This is on a Windows 10 laptop and I am the administrator.

I did have this successfully installed on my older Windows 10 laptop.

For what it is worth, Fusion 360 is installed and runs with no issues.

Exactly the same here. It seems to have stopped working after the current big "creators" Win update. I tried uninstalling, deleting as advised above, resetting the PC, reinstalling... no matter what, the Print Manager service ends up in a "Paused" state.

Autodesk Print Studio: Error 1920. Service Print Manager (PrintManager) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

On second thoughts: I am totally new to Fusion, only just starting to look around so excuse me if I say something totally stupid, but for the moment it seems to me that I do not need to bother with Print Studio at all. It seems to be not supported any more anyway. Instead, I can just do "Component" "Save As .STL" and use that file, in my instance import it into Vectric and generate toolpaths there (I did not have time yet to try the CAM module in Fusion).

Yes, there are numerous ways to get files from Fusion360 to an STL. I just liked dumping it to Print Studio first to check the file for errors and moving it to the correct orientation to be printed before saving.

Now I just export directly to Cura or Meshmixer.  It is just sad that an update broke  something that was part of my routine and I have no way to fix it.

Our maker space has a Dremel 3D40 and Print Studio is the provided software for it.  I'll have to do some research on what other options we have.  In the mean time I have an older laptop which is still running Print Studio without any issue.  At least so far.

I now have this problem since Windows 10 was updated the other night.

The update did fix the Dremel 3D program's missing tool bars, but Print Studio now can't access Print Manager.

I therefore uninstalled as suggested and cannot reinstall it because it cannot connect to Print Manager during the installation.

I mainly used Print Studio to add supports and fix errors in the STL files created by FreeCad.

Another thing about Windows 10, it cannot fixed bad driver installations because it never actually uninstalls driver.  I had a Microsoft Tech trying to fix a driver for 5hrs and he could not and just advices to do a virgin install of Widows 10 and gave me a link to an install image that would do that from a USB stick.  😞

Having the same problem over here... :S
I also tried unsitalling, and re-installing with no success.

Has anyone been able to run Print Studio again?

I tried everything suggested - the program stops and says: "Cannot connect to print managers" some files may be corrupted.  So I'm at a stand still in my training - after buying the 360 training book - can't someone help all of the people here?

Many thanks, N. Smith

Did you ever figure out how to fix it?

I gave up and just export to Cura directly so I can export an STL file.

Autodesk seems to have no interest in fixing it

I gave up also.

The software can't even be installed.

The Print Manager works for other printers including WIFI printers even though its entry in Device Manager is not correct.

Microsoft's solution is the same as for the non-working driver for my Laser engraver is download Windows 10 'virgin' install ISO image, make a bootable USB and reinstall.

That of course means you need to make sure you have the registration data/keys for all you software on hand and lot of time to reinstall everything.

Don't forget to deactivate registered software first or you may not be able to reinstall it.

Was able to load print studio after following these instructions:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-lizenzierung/print-studio-v1-6-5-error-1920/m-p/7068232/...

Good luck everyone!
