I am trying to design a very simple object in F360 to print on my Prusa MK2 multicolor printer via Slic3r (to generate the gcode) but have hit the wall.
I have a simple rectangular base with text extruded up from it (see attached). Fundamentally, I just want to print the base in one color and the text in another. I think I need to split the body between the base and the text where they join before saving it as a .stl file. I can then via slic3r assign different printer extruders to each of the base and text. But I am unable to split the object along the top face of the base (where the text joins). I get an "improper face/face intersection" error.
How do I create the text as a separate component or body and save this in the .stl? One thought I had is this issue might have to do with the fact that the text is not one connected body - the letters are all separate. But I tried grouping them together but it made no difference.
I need help with the technique to do this. Or ... am I going about this totally wrong?
