Point to reference/tutorial on how to build a box around a component

I'm learning Fusion 360.  I've created 3 separate designed parts in Fusion 360 and then created a final design where I inserted these 3 designs and assembled them into a finished/aligned object (pictured below).  Now I'm trying to design an enclosure to be 3D printed to house the finished assemble.  Internal in the enclosure I will need to build support posts to the assemble rests on (with holes for screws) and cut openings for the LCD screen, power jack and Mini USB.  I was hoping I could build a box around this assembly and project the edges of the LCD screen, power jack and USB from the assembly inside the box and then sketch rectangles aligned with the projections and then perform an extruded cut to make the required openings...  then I was going to draw an extruded line across one of the faces to split the box.

I am struggling with this process.  Can anyone point me to a tutorial that would help me learn how to do this?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Sandy

Hi,

watch this short instruction and start.

1. create sketch

2. Project the contours you need

3. create offsets for enclosure inside and wall thickness

4. create pins and screw holes at projected positions

Don't know about a particular tutorial,

Sketch the top view with enough clearance around the perimeter of the assembly.

Extrude to a covering depth.

Shell the internal cavity, and

then as you said, project the fittings you want to use, offset clearance around them and Extrude cut for them.

Might help....

@g-andresen I just watched the "Project & Extrude" link you provided.  Thank you so much!  I had no idea you used my actual assembly in that example.  That was extremely helpful.  Thank you for taking the time to provide such a helpful response.  Blessings to you!
