Performance slow after update...even with nothing opened

Hi there!  I use Fusion 360 all the time so I "feel" what the performance should be.  And, my current Fusion experience is feeling "not right".  I think this started with the latest update, but it might have started a bit earlier since I have been working on other projects for the last couple of weeks.

There is a noticeable delay when hovering over icons or doing anything (sketching, etc.). NOTE:  This is when the application is in full screen only.  When the application is windowed (not maximized) it seems to -lessen- the effect, but I think it is still there.

Also note:   When I drag the Fusion 360 screen across the window there is a noticeable stutter of the screen as it moves.  "normal" screens like the file manager / windows explorer are perfectly smooth.  Also, things like 3D games that use the 3080 graphics card I have, when running in Windowed mode, also show a perfectly smooth dragging performance.  It is only Fusion which displays this behavior.  Any ideas?

Specs:

3080 graphics card

Ryzen 9 5900x processor

64GB ram

Win 11 Pro

Plenty HD space available (on fast NVMe drive)

3440x1400 ultrawide monitor (gsync compatible)

3dconnexion space navigator (still seeing problems after disabling this...problem exists with or without this device)

Hi,

unfortunately I don't have a solution for you, but I also have the exact problem. My specs are also really decent, but especially with sketching and sculpting I have this 1-sec delay before an action.

I hope someone will know a solution for this soon.

Thanks....I wonder if others are seeing this....even swiping my mouse across the icons on the top bar, I can see the problem.

Here's a weird thing:  If I have Fusion3 60 maximized in the background, and the web browser active and smaller in the foreground, I can swipe over the icons in Fusion 360 with proper snappiness (as the app in the background).  But, once I click to go back to Fusion and it takes up the whole screen, what was just snappy becomes slower.

Why would any application perform better when it is not the focus of attention, but worse when switched to it?

Interesting... for me it's the same with the toolbar. I think the only real solution is to wait, a lot of people do have the issue right now, I think autodesk will be forced somehow to fix this update. I know someone who doesn't have this lag but it is bc he wasn't updating his program.
But what I can advice you is to set the Graphics driver to DirectX 9, by going to Settings -> General -> Graphics Driver.

It makes the program look a lot worse, but sketching and sculpting is a lot cleaner than before, for me at least. But this still doesn't fix the UI lag.

To the last question, I don't really know, the lag itself is really weird, since it isn't really coming from graphic issues.

Hope I could help you somehow, GL

If anyone else is experiencing this, there is a more thorough thread in the "support" section of this forum.  Here is a link:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/stuttering-and-freezing-slow-performance-since-las...

If anyone has these issues, it would be great for you to chime in on that thread so the dev team can prioritize and diagnose the problem more effectively.

@TrippyLighting You always continue to amaze me!  While you have not "solved" the issue, you have eliminated the problem 🙂

BAD PERFORMANCE

-NVidia control panel --> Set up GSYNC --> Enable G-SYNC / G-SYNC Compatible

-Enable for windowed and full screen mode

-Start Fusion, performance is poor whether in full screen or windowed mode

Close Fusion

NORMAL PERFORMANCE

-NVidia control panel --> Set up GSYNC --> Enable G-SYNC / G-SYNC Compatible

-Enable for full screen mode

-Start Fusion, performance is back to normal in all window modes

I wonder why that setting causes that weird behavior?

Thanks 😉

I have a very similar computer setup to yours with an AMD Ryzen 5950X and an NVIDIA RTX 3070Ti.

When I built this computer a few months ago naturally during installation it was detected that I had a GSYNC capable display.  I simply enabled it when I was asked by the OS. It worked fine for a few days and then all of the sudden the monitor turned black. No image, but Windows was still running, so it did not crash. The symptoms are likely hardware dependent and possibly are different depending on what monitor is connected. I use a LG CX 48" OLED TV as a monitor (and TV).

Since I disabled GSYNC I've not encountered any problems and the machine has the machine has been running smoothly.
