Patterned embossing on an angled elliptical body

I have a body that has an elliptical bore and an offset elliptical perimeter as shown in the images attached, and I am trying to use the embossing tool to create a patterned hex cutout on the surface of the body. In the images attached I have an example of what I'm attempting to create but on a non-angled elliptical body (it also has some added tabs and cutouts which I will add to the angled one later). When I use the emboss tool on the angled elliptical body it works as expected, but when it is patterned the angle of the emboss does not change correctly leading to the emboss not working as expected for the patterned instances. An image of what the patterned emboss looks like is attached. What methods can I use to go about creating this pattern?

Creating this on a Folded Out sheet metal body will probably be your better choice.

Attached is a quick example.  I did not take the time to angle my pattern sketch or the pattern and did not pay much attention to the dimensions but you can at least get the idea from the timeline. The process is what you need, you can supply the design.

Thanks for the response. When I follow your method and select the interior face of the elliptical body as a thickness reference to convert to sheet metal it throws an error. I have not found a way to convert the body to sheet metal with the correct thickness.

Look closer at the Screencast.  All the work is done on a cylindrical object, the elliptical shape is added using the two workplaces at the end of the process.  This is why I said I did not take the time to layout the pattern at the angle required to fit final elliptical cut cylinder. The rectangular pattern must be laid out on the surface at the angle of your final ellipse.

I quickly laid out the part, this time with the pattern on an adjustable angle.  I only did on pattern but as you can see you will probably have to do probably three of varying lengths side by side to fill in the shape.  My pattern goes the full length, yours on each side needed to fill in will have to be shorter.  The pattern calculation  is the hard part.  Please notice the small extrusion created before the Convert to Sheet Metal.  This is used to not only have the command succeed but to unfold it for the rest of the layout.  It gives you a short "flat" segment to select in the unfold command.  It is pretty late here so I cannot take the time to layout it out better.  Model is attached.
