Pattern a line around two sized circles on different planes around and axis?

Hi All,

I thought I had this solved - I am trying to pattern a line around a larger circle to a smaller circle, Looking to pattern say 36 times in the uploaded model.  I have found a way to do it one line at a time but don't really want to go this path as the spacing will likely change.  Any direction that you can point me in to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

In the model uploaded you will notice a line on the inside of the cones going from the top of the model to the bottom of the model, this is the line I would like to pattern say 35 times around an axis of the centre of the cone.

Cheers,
Adrian

I see the shape but I can't understand what you want to do. Is it possible to explain it simply and clearly? Maybe it would be more understandable with a drawing or a photo.

Hi,

I assume that the line is to serve as a path for a feature.
Therefore, create the feature on this path and pattern it instead.

Hi Mufuo - thankyou for looking at my problem. I hope this description helps. I am trying to pattern a large number of lines flowing down around the cone. These 'lines' will be then used in CAM to run a trace tool path over the surface of the object. The problem arises that there is no 'feature' I only need the line. I have done a bit of a wire hand sketch (i.e without the physical cone and hopefully this shows what I am trying to achieve.)

Hi Gunther - thanks for taking the time out to look at the issue.  In this particular application there is no feature, the lines direct the tool path 'trace' down the inside of the cone for the CAM/Manufacturing side of things.

Ok here a hand sketch - note only showing the front face, the lines would be patterned around the whole cone.

Your original inside of the cone sketch line was not sketched on the surface, which I assumed you want, so I created a new one.  I then replicated it 36 times around the cone.  Model is attached.

Thanks All - I appreciate the help - while not the exact way I was looking for I created a thin feature like John did in his model and then patterned around the cone.  Again appreciate everyone that responded and offered some advice or thoughts.  Cheers, Adrian
