Paste one form / object on another and make it follow this form

Hi everybody, sorry for my English

I am contacting you about a difficulty SKETCHUP Free. Here is the problem:

We created a base in 3D (a motorcycle helmet) on the software, and on the same file we make a sketch of a form (let's take for example a star). We hope that this star sticks on an area of the helmet (as if we were sticking a sticker) and that it fits perfectly the shape of the helmet but without the star being changed in size.

Is that possible? and if so, how to do it?
Would it be possible to do the same thing but with a solid?

For information, we found a system of projection of the form towards the helmet, but the problem is that the projection does not allow to preserve the dimensions of the segments like the sketch (moreover the angles of projections have an impact on the deformation of form) and we really want to make a collage of the form (star) on the helmet.

Looking forward to your answer
Thank you

I think I know what you are trying to accomplish, but this cannot be done in Fusion 360 without distortion.

With cylindrical and conical objects there is a workaround to do this, but woh spherical objects there will always some distortion.

Really thanks TrippyLighting for your answer!

If I understand, you say it is impossible to stick a form on an other with out distortion ?
But is it possible to stick a form on an other (distortion isn't a problem) and the first forme take the same angles and rounds about the seconde forme?

Thank you !

No, you cannot wrap an existing 3D object around another one. But there might be a way to make it appear that way.

If you can provide a more detailed description what the problem is and maybe share a model, screencast, or screen shot, maybe I can provide you with more specific solutions.

Thanks Trippy!

Yes of course

You can see in attachment two pictures with a helmet (in black color) and the sticker (in grey color)that I would like to stick / place on the back of the helmet.

Of course I would like that the stickers take the same forme like the helmet. Its dimensions can change but its necessary that it is conserve a correctly aspect.

Thank you

So what surface do you actually want it to be mapped on ?

the current location indicates that it would be projected right on the spoiler on that helmet. That of course would cause a large amount of distortion.

WE would like to projected on this location (on the spoiler) but like you have said, with a projection there is a large distortion.

Do you think is possible to find a technical to reduce the distortions?

Thank you!
