Parts List or BOM still unable to show and count sub-components?

Is it correct that Fusion still can't show components and quantify instances of a component if they are not in the top level eg within other component, assemblies and sub-assemblies etc ?

Secondly a weird thing I think happened when I was doing some testing to see if instances of my component would show up correctly in the BOM. I created  2 instances of a component that was in an assembly by copying and pasting into the top level.

I left the original copy in the assembly. But instead of a quantity of 2 in the top level the BOM showed a quantity of 3 which now included the original I left in the assembly.

Moving the 2 back into the assembly removed all 3 from the BOM.

As @janus2 has already pointed out OpenBOM is one solution, the other one would be Bommer.

Did you think it was odd that when I moved 2 instances to the top level and left one in an assembly, the Parts List show a count of 3 whereas when all 3 were in the assembly none were reported ?
