Parametric design bug, or did I just build this poorly?

I built this gear with numberOfTeeth=40.  I tested it by changing to 60, then 80.  Everything was fine.

I tried to change back to 40 and the compute failed.  It seems I can only adjust upwards.

Did I do something bad?  Is this an issue behind the scenes?

I edited the Pattern Feature- not the Parameter; no error was thrown when adjusting the quantity to 40.

It is the tangent constraint on the fillet that is throwing the error.

Keep your sketches simple and apply fillets as solid features where possible.

This works fine and is a lot less work so a double win!

For me the angle between teeth around the gear is the part that turns angry red.  also the half-angle value.

 

ATM attempting to add an attachment is crashing firefox.  Huh.

I modelled the pitch line, then the tooth profile based on adafruit's picture:

Then I offset the belt profile by a printer compensation distance.  All of which was done parametric.

I stand by what I said.

Keep sketches simple.

It avoids such situations.

 

The file I attached to my post shows clearly how that's done. Fully parametric!

Something about filleting after sketch (in this one specific case) feels funny to me, but I guess if the curve is parametric then it's going to match the original design.
