Parametric & Direct Modelling, & User Parameters Question

When I select "Do not capture design history" in a project with user parameters, all of the design history is removed as expected.

Then, in Direct Modeling mode the Change Parameters command is not accessible, also as expected.

Subsequently, when "Capture Design History" is selected and the mode is changed (back) to Parametric Modeling mode , none of the design history re-appears -- it is lost, as expected.

However, the User Parameters that were inaccessible in Direct Modeling mode are now again visible using the Change Parameters command. Unlike the design history, the user parameters are not lost, but are just inaccessible in Direct Modeling.

Is this the intended behavior? If so, what is the rationale?

I'd say that this is unintended behavior.  When you convert to a DM design, the parameters should get dumped.  Most likely just a bit of cleanup that didn't get done in that step.  In a way, it is kind of an unexpected gift.  There seems to be no harm here if the user parameters come back when re-converting to paramteric, IMO.

Something to consider is that after returning to Parametric mode, adjusting the user parameters no longer does what the user might have (naively) expected, since those parameters are no longer referenced by parametric items in the design history.

It took me a minute to figure out why my model wasn't responding to parameter changes, LOL.
