Parameter window to tall - unable to reach resize control in lower right corner

On my Mac Book Pro (macOS Sierra 10.12.3 (16D32)), I've run into the problem of resizing the parameter window. The tiny square in the lower right corner that allows window resizing is outside the screen even when running Fusion in full screen an lifting the parameter window to the top.

  • Is there a settings file where I can change the parameter window height?
  • Is there a keyboard shortcut where I can use arrow keys to alter the size (used such techniques in Windows)?
  • Any other available trick?

Suggestion for Autodesk:

  • The window size should be possible to change when dragging any corner or frame and/or
  • Maximum available window size should be checked on opening the parameter window

You can try to dock this window (i.e. by dragging it to right side of Fusion 360). It should shrink vertically after that.

This is true for the palette windows. The parameter window is free floating and will not dock.

Problem still to be solved.

Ok, I see. On Windows there is no problem to resize it. Because it's a regular Windows' application window and it can be resized via any edge/corner.

The problem seems Mac related only, And I have no idea how to workaround it because I even don't have a Mac. Sorry.

UPD. And even I absolutely do not know how Mac's windows behaves, I have a clue that it should have a way to move a window from keyboard. In Windows any window have context menu (accessible by right mouse button click on a title or pressing "Alt+Space" keys). And that menu have "Move" and "Resize" options, after choosing them it is possible to move/resize window using cursor keys. Is there something similar on Mac?

@HughesTooling I don't think that the reset will help here. Because it has no effect on Parameters window at all. On Windows at least.

Hi freyer

unfortunately the only way you'll be able to resize this parameter dialog (that I'm aware of) is to connect to a larger monitor and grab the bottom right corner to resize the window or uninstall and reinstall Fusion might work.

I've logged a bug to take a look at fixing this.

hope this helps,

I just hit the problem myself.  But it's now July and this still hasn't been fixed?  That's not impressive.

But why are you using a UI toolkit that allows this to happen?  It's 2017, not 1992; resizing windows is a solved problem.

Hardly a problem affecting only the parameter window, or only Macs.  Dialog sizing/positioning has been a headache for as long as I've used Fusion.  There are quite a few dialogs that routinely come up sized and/or located so they extend past the bottom of the screen, and must be moved and/or re-sized to get to the bottom of the dialog.  The Sketch Constraints and Import dialogs ALWAYS display this way, and it's a real PITA.  The little pop-up dialogs, like for sketch dimensions, also have an uncanny knack for putting themselves in the worst possible locations.

Ray L.

It's 2021 now and this problem still is affecting me.   I'm in windows,  the CAM parameters window cannot be resized,  and the bottom parameters are entirely off my laptop screen.  I cannot change the parameters I need to because that part of the window is not accessible,  nor can I drag the window to make it visible.

Each section of each tab in the dialog can be minimized.  Once you set the fields of a section, minimize the section.

I had this same problem with my Browser window and found a solution!

Download a free trial of WindowManager by Desksoft and run it. I have used this for years to manage where my windows open on a triple screen display system since Windows opens everything in the center of the left display.

This opens the following window:

Click on the List button.

This opens the Window List. Make sure you check "Blink selected window".

Then click on the Pick! button and hold down your left-mouse button as you move your mouse over the Browser window. A red border appears around the window to indicate it is the selected window.

This will highlight the correct Fusion360 window in the Window List as shown below.

Now that you have found the correct window, click the Edit button. This opens the Edit Window Properties window.

Now, you can simply edit the size and location of the Browser window and press the "Set" button to change the window size until you can see the bottom and can once again access the lower-right corner of the Browser window to adjust its size.

Redock the Browser window.

Close and reopen Fusion 360 and your Browser window can be undocked and will now be the size you set it to using WindowManager.

7 years later and still happening with an undocked parameter window. Docking the window is fine, When expanding sections beyond screen dimension in an undocked window the scrollbar flashes briefly but then disappears. You need to manually resize the widow by dragging down from the top then pulling the whole window up. and over again until it fits.  Thw window then recognizes the scrollbar...until you next open it. Definitely a bug. Amazing it been an issue for so long.
