Offsetting multiple parts of svg

I have an svg that has multiple objects but I want them grouped together and then offset.  I have tried using Inkscape to group them together before importing but the image is still broke into different parts.  I will attach the svg I am trying to use.

Hi,

If that's what you want to achieve, it's not possible with Fusion 360.

I created it in V-Carve. If you tell me the distance, I can create a file.

Well  that is unfortunate but I appreciate you fixing it for me.  Your animation is exactly what I am looking for.  I would like a 1/4 inch offset.  I appreciate you doing this.

I beg to differ 😉

In  most cases users want to end up with 3D geometry and not a sketch. The Sketch usually is just a tool to get to 3D geometry.  Assuming that is the same in this case the .svg already is the sketch and the offsetting of sketch entities is not needed. Granted, it does not add the filleting.

Hi Peter,

You quote my testimony and announce a dissenting view.
Unfortunately I do not recognize the solution in Fusion.
It is about creating a closed contour at a distance of 1/4 to a group of geometries.

I suppose you did not experiment much with my approach ?

There is indeed a problem when taking that approach simply to a different dimension/thickness.

When shapes are starting to self intersect Fusion shows no problems or warnings in the preview, but when the OK button is clicked it stalls and hast be force quit.

 

 

However curtesy of @jeff_strater who provided the explanation and workaround a other recent thread I cannot find at the moment.

If the same thing is tried in a base feature it works:

 

 

 

 

@jeff_strater can this be fixed soon ?

Guenther, thank you very much for the edited files.  Just got back home and will try then tomorrow.

 

Peter, I would love to get this to work in Fusion 360 because I really don't want to learn yet another software package.
