Offset Face Evenly on a Curved Surface

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered before, but I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a solution.  Basically, I am trying to extrude/cut (in this case, offset face because it's a curve) evenly along the entire surface of a curved face, but no more.  On flat surfaces it's not an issue, I just select the face, sketch out my rectangles, and cut (extrude tool) one of them 1.5mm down and the other 3mm down, to end up like this:

It's not a complex sketch, really just a couple lines.  However, I want this kind of offset of the three faces to continue through a curve at the bottom of my model, and this is where I run into issues.  I sketched the lines out the correct spacing on a plane I made at a tangent to the curve, then projected that onto the curve, and then split the faces - so far so good.  However, when I choose the face and I want to offset it (and only it), it extends way down into another face, and kind of smooths itself out so that there's no edge to it, it just blends into the other face:

This is all being done in the Model workspace.  Again, I'm sure there is something I'm overlooking here but at this point I'm unable to figure it out.  Any help is much appreciated!

You may do well with a sweep, you have the cutting profile, and you have an edge to follow, so sweep cut.

Might help.

Worked perfectly - thanks so much, never used sweep before but have a feeling I'll be using it a lot more now.  Especially because I could've used it for the lip on the whole model rather than separate extrudes on each portion...
