Cannot Remove a Linked Component

So...

I have an assembly with a number of linked components in it (purchased brackets in this case) and I wanted to remove them from the assembly so that I could build it a different way.  In order to preserve the rest of the model, I thought it best to Remove rather than Delete the components.  So, I right-clicked on the components, but there is no Remove option--only Delete.

In order to remove the components, I first have to break the links.  I thought that I could do this in a group by selecting multiple instances...nope.

One must select each component individually, click Break Link, and wait for Fusion to do it (a few minutes in my case).  This was a waste of my time.

Main question: Why can a linked component not be removed?

Sub-question: Why can one not break the links of multiple components simultaneously?

Hi @neljoshua,

Thank you for asking about this.

Yes, the remove feature is currently not available through the Browser tree but you can

select the imported Xref in the Timeline, right-click on it and select "Remove".

I agree, it would be a great enhancement to break the link for multiple Xref´s in one shot.

As you can see this in the IDEA post from @TrippyLighting here, you may want to add some come of your ideas as well.

I look forward hearing from you.

Thanks,

@Mike.Grau,

Thanks for the information.  I look forward to both of these things being addressed in the future.

This only partially solves the issue, as it doesn't work if you make a pattern out of the Xref and later want to remove an instance (to clean up for printing for example).

Had the same problem... My solution: Create a new empty component, move all the linked items you want to delete into that new component, then remove the component.
