Offline Data Missing

I was working on models over a 5 hour airplane flight. Saved multiple times. Quit Fusion 360 and shut off the computer.

Got to the hotel, launch fusion, and one model has been updated with my changes.

Other models are completely gone!! 4 hours of work, gone.

Is there a temporary file somewhere on my hard drive, or has the cloud and versioning system swallowed my changes?

I would prefer if the autodesk cloud were a mirror of my files, and my actual work was actually in my possesion.

Hi @dnphipps ,

Can you send me (kris.berg@autodesk.com) your log files?  To get your log files go to the help (?) menu and select "Diagnostic Log Files".  I will look at them as soon as I receive them. Also if you go back offline do you see your changes?

Thank you,

Kris Berg

Hi Kris,

Sent log files via email.

When I go back offline, changes to one model are there, but one entire model is missing.

I could have created the missing model by 'saving as' a different name, while off line.

So I opened a model, went off line, 'saved as' a different name. Saved multiple versions while off-line.

When I got back online, no new model. Doesn't exist at all.

Aha.

The missing model was saved higher up my folder structure, outside of my current Project folder, in a folder called "David's First Project"...a folder that hasn't been visited since my very first install of fusion beta. All there.

On the one hand, I could grumble about this data management scheme.

On the other, a 5 minute response time to a support question in a forum is quite remarkable!!

Cheers Kris, till next time:)

Hi @dnphipps,

Glad to hear your changes are all there.  I will send you a private email with a little more information regarding file management to make you feel more comfortable about our file storage mechanism.

Thanks,
