NPT pipe threads (new hole wizard)

Looking through the options on a the new hole creation tool I see all types of pipe threads except NPT.  There are Bsp pipe threads but not Npt? am I missing something?

They are available in the hole command in the taper tapped tool. They are only cosmetic though but the hole size is correct for tapping.

I need to 3d print them so I need the threads modeled.

Download a part off of McMaster and transplant the threads manually.

Long ago, someone shared this parametric model of NPT threads so I have attached it again for you.  You can use it to make internal and external threads.

I'm looking forward to see the "model" feature for "holes", and not only for "threads".

Until then, my trick around is to import NPT parts from McMaster, and combine them (cut operation) with the target part I want NPT threads in. This allows me to then 3D print NPT threads with a SLA printer.

Can you 'unmark' this as solved? I don't think NPT thread support is solved until the modeled threads (male and female) are available.

I agree with Tom.  The generally agreed work around of using a McMaster part to create a cut which will result in a NPT thread is insufficient as those parts files from McMaster are not always to a spec that would be suitable for design.  I have done it and it works, but only after I had to scale my part a few times to get it right.  This is extra time and wasted 3D prints in my case.

I also agree.  The McMaster hack is not an engineering level solution, it's a (hopefully) temporary workaround for non-critical systems.  I wouldn't trust something like this for a real-world project, especially in high-pressure system design.

What a basic feature to have been lacking since requested in another thread in 2016.  That's 5 years.  I'm sure we could all list marvels that were completed in 5 years compared to a feature that isn't unheard of...  Tapered threads have existed for a while...

Am I missing something, NPT threads are available under the Hole dialog.  Are you looking for modeled threads, if so, yes they are not available.

Use the internal threads to make the external threads.  Because the threads are tapered,  you don't need to change their size, just adjust the position.

This is an interesting solution. Saying you use an additional body with internal npt's to cut the original. However really would love to see this feature implemented finally. This has to be the dozen-th time I've needed external npt's. UGH

If it has been 5+ years since modeled NPT threads were requested, I'm guessing I'm better off just designing my 3D printed parts to be threaded with a tap?

Why hasn't anyone from Autodesk given us an update. It seriously shouldn't take four or five years to implement a thread style used in over 400 million homes and businesses.
