NPT pipe threads (new hole wizard)

Looking through the options on a the new hole creation tool I see all types of pipe threads except NPT.  There are Bsp pipe threads but not Npt? am I missing something?

Hi Jake, you said NPT threads should be available in summer. Of what year, lol? Kidding, have you guys made any headway on this?

Hi @jkpugh65 ,

The post referencing 'summer' was actually from early 2018, and was referring to the initial release of NPT standards. To confirm, we have now added NPT standards to the Hole command (that original estimate referred to summer 2018 - took a bit longer than that, but we did get it in eventually!)

That didn’t complete the story for tapered threads - the standards are not yet available in the standalone Thread command, and we only create cosmetic threads for now. It’s in our plans to close these gaps, and this is actively being worked on, but as is still the case from my recent post, we don’t yet have a clear timeline for when these will arrive.

Hope that clarifies,

Many thanks,

Jake

Very glad that NPT threads are in the hole command. Any update on when they will be available under the thread command? (for existing holes in downloaded components)

Just FYI, I know this is a thing that everyone hates that Fusion 360 hasn't implemented yet, but I do have a workaround (particularly for those who want to 3D print tapered threads, etc.). Fusion 360 has the ability to directly import parts from McMastercarr so whenever I need tapered threads/standard threads that Fusion 360 doesn't have, I just import them from McMastercarr and fuse them with the 3D model. This isn't as ideal as the ability to directly add tapered threads, but it does work so... we should use that for now while they are still implementing the ability to do it natively.

I am working on a showerhead design for the US market and need NPT in the thread and hole tools ASAP. When is this going to be available??? My uncle can accurately cut tapered threads in a pipe with a tool made in the 50's. Surely your engineers can come up with a solution in a reasonable time frame!

While you wait for this feature, which I also want, you can certainly still have your shower head manufactured without modeling the threads. Just put a text note on your drawings specifying the thread.

Why does it say solved?

This is not solved.  When will NPT threading be ready?  There are a number of people looking for this functionality.  Why is every pipe thread except US available?  What market are you targeting?

It was asked where the NPT threads are.

It was answered that they don't exist.

Solved.

There are three lines in a haiku.

But well done anyway.

The answer is solved.

You will have to model that yourself.

I inserted a PVC female adapter (4880K87) and a PVC Pipe (48925K97) from McMaster-Carr.  I created joint  between them so that the pipe fit into the adapter.  I then used the combine function and selected the pipe as the target body and the adapter as the tool body.  I used the Cut operation.  Is the resulting pipe body technically NPT or is that imported part just made to look like NPT?

So whats the deal with NPT threads not being in 360 a whole 3 years after this thread has been created? The original answer said they were coming very soon.

Please add the "modeled" check box to all tapered threads so 3D printing will actually print these threads. Thanks!
