New user trying to figure out TRIM

I'm new to Fusion but not CAD.  I'm having trouble understanding when and how TRIM command works.  When I try to use it it I get no highlighted sections even though I have multiple sketch intersections (on the same plane).  My frustration is not help by the fact that I have already successfully used the Trim command on the current drawing.  I just can't seem to work out why it is now not working.  I understand that each of the sketches (lines, circles and arcs) must be on the same plane, and I believe they are - is there some way of being able to confirm that?

The images show the starting sketches and where I want to end up (edited image).

What is shown in the image is mirrored on the other side, I'm using a circle to span both sides and only want to keep an upper arc to span both sides.

Trimming sketches needs to be within the active sketch, no matter how many are on the same plane.

Project required data first, It's advisable to hide all sketches not being edited.

If it's not working then it's not in the active sketch.

I almost never trim, particularly not in un-dimensioned and under constrained sketches. trimming and breaking, just as in other CAD software has a tendency to break certain constraints and those have to be re-created to get the sketch to behave  stable.

In Fusion 360 a sketch does not have to resemble the final shape of the object as you can puck multiple profiles and extrude (revive etc) them together.

Hi Trippylighting,

Thanks for your response, I think my biggest issue at the moment is that I'm trying to do things the same way I'd do them with my other packages ;^),  Too old for so many packages.  Good thing I keep a sharp pencil and drawing pad next to my keyboard.

I've got my immediate issue resolved now.

Thanks

Hi

That was my problem, thanks.  As I mentioned I thought it was plane base, re-did it all on the same "sketch" and got it done.  I was creating seperate "sketches" for each element as a means of being able to version control and roll back if something didn't work.

Now all I need to do is work out how to copy all the other "sketches" into the one and continue.

Thanks

Exit and Hide the destination sketch.

show all the sketch items to copy, window select them.  Control + C or (Copy from the right click menu)

Deselect the copied articles

Hide the source sketches, Edit destination sketch, Control +P (Paste from right click menu)

with move palette open, finish the locating.
