New update forces to make either a new component or a new assembly

Got my Fusion updated and opened it up since i am learning how to properly make projects on technical drawing in order for me to start creating my own parts and designing some machines i have in mind.

I am 4 or 5 months in and i've got to learn A LOT in these months, i'm starting to have a lot of fun while doing so, making more and more complex parts and assemblys.

Today i opened it up to complete some parts, and i was very much surprised with the new update, i kind of feel like the past 5 months are down the drain because i can't seem to do nothing now.

Usually while creating new parts it was super smooth to just assembly the parts together correctly to create hole and fixtures on the parts so i can properly join them in the final assembly, but now i am forced to chose either a component project, or an assembly project, so now i can't project sketches in a component using an assembly, and afterwards remove the assembly.

I can create a sketch in an assembly project but i can't do holes in it for example. Can anybody help me?

1. Always read the what's new that is issued alongside a new update/release of Fusion. Usually after a Fision update there is a new notification that has a link to it.

However, if you delete that notification, you can still access it here:

To get the old behavior of Fusion, you can change to Hybrid mode in the preferences:

You can change existing documents back to Hybrid in the Document Settings in the upper left corner of the Browser:

Oh wow, i feel a bit dumb. In fact when i opened it, i fast-forwarded the what's new tab, and i have been focusing on actually learning how to draw and assemble rather than knowing the actual details of fusion. Thank you so so much for this help!

Will learn to the next time!

No need to feel dumb. This has caught a lot of people off guard!

I don't always read it either. The Fusion team considered making Hybrid the new default and the Intend driven Design opt-in, but decided not to make Hybrid the new default.

I find that hard to support, even ignorant!
