New update extrude problems

Hello,

I just updated Fusion 360 to the latest version and the extrude feature seams to be working differently than before. If you go to Extrude10 in the timeline, I am trying to get this sketch to extrude into body 5 but every time I try, I get the error message "Tool body creation fail-extent boolean fail." This was not a problem on the old F360 version so I don't know what is wrong.

Use Extrude8 and Extrude12 for reference as this is what Im trying to do with Extrude10 but it isn't working.

I know my timeline is a mess and I am sorry about that. Ive had to make a lot of new modifications to this model so the timeline isn't in any kind of order

I see that you did not honor a single bit of the advice given in the other thread that contained this same model.

time to start from scratch!

So, just to be clear:  Are you saying that the behavior of Extrude10 has changed in the most recent update?  Extrude10 is a very simple, distance extrude with the operation type set to "New Body".  I highly doubt that the behavior of this feature has changed recently (or even in the last 2 years)

I did notice that if I try to edit this feature and change to to a "To Object" extent type, and pick Body5 as the termination, I do get the error you mention.  Is that what you mean?  Again, I highly doubt that this behavior has changed in a very long time.  This error usually means that either the tool body does not terminate at the selected object, or possibly that the internal combine operation failed.  Determining which condition of those is present here is a bit hard to tell without some work.

I looked into this Extrude a bit, on the assumption that a "to object" to Body5 is what you wanted.  The issue, I think has to do with the fact that the sketched circle is exactly the same diameter as the inside of that pipe.  CAD systems struggle with geometry that is exactly, or nearly exactly coincident with the geometry it is being combined with.  These are computer algorithms which are never exact, and have to work to within a tolerance, and this kind of geometry could be off by a bit at the 8th or 9th decimal place.  To prove that, I edited the sketch to make it .01 smaller than the inside diameter.  This made the Extrude succeed.  I'm not sure of your design intent here, but that is the underlying problem.

It looks like that was the problem, but I am wondering why the extrusion worked on Extrude8 and 12?
