Need help with ideas for a latch please

I am new to Fusion 360 and CAD. I have laid up a box that slides into a mounting plate as shown below. This is my 3rd attempt and not yet tested but looking for alternatives in case it also fails when I test in the morning.

What I need is the box to latch into the slide rails so it cannot slip out on its own and then when the battery need recharging, the user can push or deactivate some sort of clip to allow the box to slide out to the right.

The problem with first 2 attempts is the flap with the little knob on end to secure the box holds it ok but does not take much effort pushing down on the latch to release to break it off.

You will most likely get better replies if you Post in the Design Category, Manufacture is more for creating the actual toolpaths that would be cut at the CNC machine.

For what it`s worth personally I would look at making the two side clips longer with inset edges so they spring out and lock in position, then you would need to press both to release the unit, safer maybe? Easier maybe ?? Your choice 🙂

Should work - printing with vertical layer direction, the same as your arrow, but would break with layers at 90 degrees, so you need to consider printing orientation, when giving that tab - size.

The length of that tab will play a big part in whether it breaks or not and the amount of force to release it. If it is breaking now when properly printed then I would consider making it longer, longer slits in the direction of the arrow, to allow the required flex to occur over a greater length. This will decrease the force needed to disengage the latch so the "hook" may need to be lengthened. It will be a balancing act to not make the "hook" too long. A wider tab will also add force required for disengagement once the tab length and "hook" length is set but it wont add as much resistance to breaking as you might think so I would set lengths first and add width to get release force desired.
