Need help moving multiple joints separately...!

Hi all-

I have an assembly which contains sub-assemblies that have both sliding and revolute joints.  I can adjust the positions of these joints in the top level assembly by clicking and dragging with the mouse, but often I get both sliding AND revolution when I only want one or the other.   Very frustrating!

Is there a way to (temporarily) fix one joint in a sub-assembly while adjusting another (while in the top level assembly)?

And...I can't drive a joint in a sub-assembly to a certain angle from within the top level assembly?

Here's my dream:   to be able to have a set of user-created buttons that activate a specific joint to move between specified ranges at a given speed.  That way, I could 'animate' the various joints in a complicated assembly separately.  This would go a long, long way toward both designing the multiple joint interactions AND showing other people how the whole thing works in a step-by-step fashion.

I have looked into the Animation tab, but unless I'm missing something it does not appear to animate joints...!   I mean, it's great if you want to show how something goes together...but what about if you just want to show a set of steps involving joints?   I hope I'm missing something obvious, because it sure seems like something that would be extremely useful!

thanks,

Patrick

On the basis that there is no file, pic, or video, or description of what you have modelled..

You can lock a joint .(until you unlock it)

You can set range of movement.

You can not set movement speed,

You could consider Drive joint, capture positions at the end of the timeline, and step / play the timeline.

Top level or not I don’t understand the distinction.

Might help…

In Autodesk Inventor - Dynamic Simulation using the Input Grapher you can specify precise time sequences and translations/rotations of Joints as well as 2D and 3D contacts. I don’t know of any way to do this sort of sophisticated motion control in Autodesk Fusion.
