Need help designing an iPhone Case

Hi All,

I want to create a case for the iPhone 6 in Fusion 360 and I have downloaded a model of the iPhone 6 with correct dimensions however I don't know how to create a case. Is it possible to use the existing iPhone model to cut into a block and work around it so that it fits the phone perfectly or are there other features that I'm unaware of that make this kind of thing much easier.

On a side-note, the case will have a 3D design to it with isometric triangles extruding from the back of it, I've attached some photos below:

This is how I'd like the back of the case to look, or something similar...

I started off with the sketch tool to create some triangles...

I realised that it would be much easier if I could extrude everything attached to a certain point so only certain faces would be raised so that I could create the 3D triangles as shown in the 'ideal outcome' picture.

If anyone knows how to create these triangular designs or a phone case please reply.

Thanks,

- Luca

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for those links, I'll try them out. Regarding the phone case aspect of the problem, do you have any ideas on how to create a phone case in Fusion 360?

Best Regards,

Designing a base geometry of a phone case in Fusion 360 is rather simple. Perhaps go down the tutorial videos in the "Learn" section.

The "Learn" button is in the menu bar right on top of the Forum website.

Could you share the phone model, it would be easier to show more detailed help if we had that.

Here's a three minute screencast I made showing a way to do the pattern shown in your pic.

The video doesn't show how to make a solid body from the resulting patched surface, so continuing from where the video ends: while in patch mode, delete the back surface patches, and extrude the outside perimeter a little, then patch the back. Finally, stitch the patches together to create the solid body.
