My Fusion Wish list (or tell me a fix)

Wish List -

To make this  great CAD system even better (speaking as an ex SWKS/Catia vet now using Fusion for 2 years for some high value engineering and product design projects)

• Elliptical radius tool  (THE only thing I REALLY miss from solidworks) <<<< PLEASE 

The workaround of sweeping on edges etc is very tedious cf  2 clicks in  SWKS  (as attached) 

 

• Fixes for recent Crashes (which just started at last weeks December update where before Fusion has been SUPER solid) 
• Non-Black dimension lines (to see against black sketch lines) 
• Someway of seeing parametric relationships in the timelime ( I do a lot of concept development work up to production,  I am really impressed by F360's parametrics and this would really help).
• Keyboard control of timeline (eg arrow keys to roll forwards / backwards) I seem to hit play with the mouse far too easily.
• Clearer scroll bar in timeline the thin grey bar is almost invisible. 
• Some kind of Flags in the the timeline to jump to key places 
• Better STEP export  ie water tight solids rather than a list of surfaces

  The workarounds I use when exchanging with solidworks is

  1. Always use IGES to export from Fusion to SWKS
  2. Always use STEP to import to Fusion from SWKS (or X_T)
• Make selecting relationship  Glyphs easier eg make them bigger on Zoom, or have a selection filter.
• Id prefer not to have 'save position' as the default, but as an option. .... AND/OR ....
• Have a folder in the browser with all positions in it (like joints, named views and other cross component groups) 
• Flip section views both in design and in  drawing environments. 
• more body/component alignment and joint options eg sketch line and axes
• New plane at an angle to another around a line or edge on the 1st plane - there are workarounds using sketches - but I wish anyway. 
• Purge unused sketches and say suppressed features in the timeline. 
• I have a nice 4K 2nd screen (Dell U430Q) but only in drawings the bottom half of this screen does not refresh/display properly as attached (I've tried every combination of drivers, preferences etc I can think of - diagnosis attached) . PDF's and printouts are perfect its just the display. 

Final wish : I'd love to get some live one-to-one expert tuition where I share my screen, design intent and approach with someone with deep fusion skills. This would be to spot workflow mistakes and point out 'better practice' based on my work (I've watched many many great F360 youtubes).  I'd be happy to pay for this as my work involves concepts to production parts made in expensive injection molds. Maybe a paid service ? (DM me if you can help and do curvy molded cast and pressed parts).

As far as section views go in the sketch environment, when enabling "Slice", fusion takes into account which way you're looking at the model and sections it accordingly. Not sure if that's helpful. As someone else with a Solidworks background, I know your struggles and wish they'd steal some of the helpful features from Solidworks. One from my wishlist is "keep trimmed entities as construction geometry". (I know there's a slower workaround with the break tool) but it would just be nice!

I have exported 100's of step files and not once had then export as surfaces, but maybe your forms are different.

Can the human eye tell the difference between 2.5K and 4K 😎?

All our components are complex and curvy - lots of surface and solid features and few prismatics.
The 43" 4K monitor is THE best £600 hardware investment I ever made.

Just found a simple (maybe already obvious to others) workaround to a point on this wishlist:

• New plane at an angle to another around a line or edge on the 1st plane - there are workarounds using sketches - but I wish anyway. 

Extruding a straight line as a flat surface can be a useful alternative to a plane, and avoids having to accept default 90 degree to origin planes or at specific angle to these.
