Motion links and joints - I desperately need help.

Hello, I am a mechanical engineering student, and I recently started learning CAD and I’ve been modeling while watching YouTube tutorials. The modeling part is done, but I have absolutely no idea how to use links and joints to create the actual motion. Let me explain the overall mechanism first.

There is a plate that moves up and down, and when this plate comes down, it pushes an incoming object to the side. Both the vertical movement and the horizontal movement are controlled by cams. For the up-and-down motion, a lever is attached to the cam, so as the cam rotates, the lever is lifted, and the plate connected to the lever moves upward.

The cam that handles the left-right motion is gear-linked to the vertical-motion cam at a 90-degree phase difference, so the timing between the vertical and horizontal motions can be synchronized by design.

I connected as many links as I could, but I keep getting errors, and sometimes the lag becomes insanely bad. I’m honestly going crazy because I can’t figure out what’s causing these issues. I would be incredibly grateful if you could tell me how to fix this.

p.s. I will aslo the hand sketch that I drew.

What is the link to the tutorial?

Are there any unresolved issues highlighted in your Timeline?

Does Ctrl b (CMD b on Mac) return any issues?

I'm sorry for the bad explanation. I did not watch the specific youtube video. I was just studying with multiple videos. I don't think there is an actual issue when I press ctrl b, but the thing is I just cannot make a motion I want.

I can’t see your file while travelling.
Take it in stages.

There are at least 3 axle bush blocks, a lever pivot base. Make 1 Rigid Group for all of those.

The vertical axle with gear needs a Revolve Joint.  The horizontal axle with gear, needs a Revolve Joint.

Now you make the Motion Link - select both Revolve Joints.  both the same size?  1:1 ratio.

Animate The first revolve joint - relationships.  If the gears are going in correct direction, your done, if not make one or both go in reverse direction.

when you get that far, report back what you want to do next.

Might help….

When I press CTRL-B I can see 4 warnings.

Those are visible in the timeline even before running the Modify->Compute all command.

There definitely are problems in your file!
