Modifying a 3D model to slice for CNC Routing.

Hello I have a 3D model that I need to modify in order to be CNC Routed.  There are some undercuts I need to get rid of and also I need to move around certain features (like the arms) such that I can slice the model at key locations.  I am very new to Fusion 360.  I know how to split the model using planes.   But I noticed that I need to move around some of the mesh based on where I want the splits so that I can CNC route from just one side of the split.  Can anyone help with this?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for your Post in the Forum.

Yes, it looks like that you would have to convert your design before starting to modify it.

Could you may share a Public Link of your design that we can help you and better understand your workflow?

Thank you,

Hi Mike,

I'm having the same problem.  I have a VW Bus 3D model and need to split it in two for CNC work.  I wpuld be happy to share the model if you like.

Unless your pretty good at brep/nurbs modeling AND mesh modeling, I would not attempt to join the 2 together in  single workflow.  The sad fact is that fusion is terrible at dealing with meshes.  if all you need to so is slice the model I would suggest mesh mixer, or some other mesh modeling software.

You can also post your model here, maybe someone will help.
